Clara Rednix Dare is Alex Derrick

If you’ve been here a while, you know Clara Rednix Dare.

She started as a pen name. A way to write freely about youth baseball, travel-ball chaos, sideline life, and the things parents don’t always say out loud.

But the deeper I got into writing, the more I realized something important:

This space isn’t anonymous. It’s personal.

So here it is — Clara Rednix Dare is me.

I’m Alex Derrick. A baseball mom, travel-ball parent, team manager, bleacher sitter, snack-packer, gamechanger runner, tournament-weekend warrior… and the voice behind Diamond Arc Reader.

I created this platform to help families navigate youth baseball with honesty — the good, the stressful, the expensive, and the unforgettable. Going forward, I’m stepping fully into that role.

And with that, we’re starting the year exactly how Diamond Arc Reader was meant to operate:

Real recommendations. Real use. No fluff.

The Travel Baseball Gear I Actually Use (And Would Buy Again)

There’s a lot of gear marketed to baseball families.

Some of it’s great. Some of it collects dust in the garage. Some of it feels like a great idea… until tournament weekend.

This list isn’t sponsored hype. It’s what I actually use — the items that survive long weekends, back-to-back games, bad weather, and packed schedules.

If I wouldn’t spend my own money on it again, it’s not here.

1. Ninja Backpack Cooler (Snacks + 36 Cans = Game Changer)

This is hands-down one of the smartest sideline upgrades we’ve made.

The Ninja Backpack Cooler:

  • Holds snacks and up to 36 cans

  • Frees up your hands (backpack > bulky cooler)

  • Fits in the car and wagon at ease without taking up tons of space

Why it earns a permanent spot: It keeps everything cold all day without dragging a hard cooler across complexes. Food and drinks are separate so you don’t have to worry if your snacks are getting soggy.

2. Foldable Wagon That Holds Everything (and Folds Into Nothing)

If you do travel ball, you need a wagon. Period.

The one we use:

  • Folds down incredibly small

  • Holds chairs, bags, coolers, blankets — all of it

  • Handles long walks from parking to fields

  • Doesn’t break the bank

Why it matters: Less trips. Less stress. More energy saved for game time.

3. SCOUT 3 Boys Utility Tote (Lightweight, Durable, Easy to Clean)

This tote surprises everyone — until they use it.

The SCOUT 3 Boys Utility Tote:

  • Holds a ton without feeling bulky

  • Lightweight but extremely durable

  • Easy to wipe clean (dirt, sunflower seeds, spills)

We use it for: Snacks, extra clothes, first aid kit, mom must have’s, and random sideline essentials.

4. GCI Outdoor Comfort Pro Rocker Chair

Metal bleachers aren’t forgiving — especially on double-header days. Or at some fields they don’t exist at all….

This chair:

  • Is foldable and easy to carry

  • Rocking motion = surprisingly comfortable. Get’s you through those nail-biting innings you can’t sit still

  • Supportive enough for long tournament weekends

Early season baseball is cold. No way around it.

Why I Share What We Use

Diamond Arc Reader exists for one reason:

To help baseball families spend smarter, not more, and to SHARE this wild ride that is baseball with our boys.

If something saves time, stress, or money — I’ll share it. If it doesn’t — I won’t.

That’s the promise.

And now that you know who’s behind the words, that promise matters even more.

Welcome to Diamond Arc Reader — fully, honestly, and intentionally.
